Jana is a multidisciplinary artist and art therapist of Australian and Māori (Ngā Puhi) descent, based on the Central Coast of NSW. Her practice combines large-scale atmospheric landscapes and scenes in her evocative visual storytelling. Her work invites reflection, connection, and a sense of wonder.
With a background in art therapy, Jana approaches art as a means of carrying the audience through a process. Her understanding of the transformational potential of art informs both her creative process and the way her work engages audiences—utilising archetypal themes and ambient landscapes to evoke memories and introspection.
Her artistic perspective is also shaped by a Maori cultural perspective, where observing nature, and wairua (spirit) are evident in her approach. These themes weave through her work and overall narrative.
Currently expanding her practice, Jana is integrating literature, poetry, and music into her work with the support of Wyong Art House’s Creative Development programme. By engaging multiple senses, she aims to craft immersive experiences that invite and deepen the audience's felt experience.
With over a decade of experience as a creative on the Central Coast, Jana has contributed to numerous exhibitions and projects, including the 5 Lands Walk Exhibition, the Spirit of Australia Project, fundraising initiatives, and private shows. As her artistic journey evolves, she continues to explore the transformative power of art—bridging imagination, cultural listening, and therapeutic process to develop works that inspire connection, imagination, reflection, and wonder.
